STRAINERS
WHAT ARE STRAINERS?
Here at F&H, we offer a variety of strainers to best suit your application needs. Filters provide reliable means of removing fine particles from liquids; filtering media must be removed and disposed periodically. On the other hand, strainers are coarse filters that remove larger particles; the straining mesh can be reused after cleaning. Strainers are available in 316 and 316L stainless steel. We offer In-Line, Basket, ‘Y’, and ‘T’ strainers to meet your sanitary needs. Contact a F&H representative today to find the EHEDG and 3A certified strainer that is best suited for your application.

TYPES OF STRAINERS
IN-LINE STRAINERS
STRAIGHT LINE
When using Straight-Line Strainers, the process lines must be broken or disassembled for cleaning. They are available only in a single flow configuration. These strainers provide product integrity and process equipment protection, and they have a wide variety of perforated and wedgewire straining elements. Straight Line Strainers are manufactured in the U.S., and they offer quick turnaround times for standard models.
STRAIGHT LINE STRAINER RESOURCES
ANGLE LINE
Angle-Line Strainers are typically installed to isolate a low volume of product particulates or contaminant debris from process streams without incurring substantial pressure drop. They can be cleaned without removing it from the process line, and this helps increase production up-time. Angle Line Strainers are 3-A certified when used with a perforated insert. The perforated insert allows for both standard and reverse process flow. This is done by changing the strainer element frame.

ANGLE LINE STRAINER RESOURCES
DUAL STRAINER
Dual Side Entry Strainer Assemblies (Sani-Matic Dual Angle-Line Strainer Assemblies) are helpful in food, beverage, and pharmaceutical manufacturing environments where 24/7/365 operations are required. These strainers allow users to close down one side of the strainer for cleaning while the other side stays open for processing. Sani-Matic lists the top four reasons for using dual side entry strainers:
- There is high particulate count in the product requiring frequent strainer cleanings.
- Operations are capital intensive and downtime results in significant costs.
- Quality is impacted by frequent processing interruptions for strainer cleaning.
- Stopping and restarting is time consuming and inefficient.

"Y" STRAINERS
Y-Strainers are able to generate reliable results , and they help increase efficiency. They are engineered with a close-tolerance fitment (0.010”) at the base of the element. Additionally, they do not require an O-ring. Fewer parts result in faster, more effective cleaning, and increased performance. As a result, this helps save you time and money. When using the perforated insert, the standard Y-Strainers are 3-A approved.
STANDARD FEATURES
- 316L stainless steel construction
- Five fitting sizes available
- Standard tri-clamp connections
- EPDM tri-clamp gaskets
- Close-tolerance fit eliminates O-ring
- Perforated or wedgewire strainer inserts are interchangeable
- Sanitary finish (32Ra) – except wedgewire elements
- All welds are color cleaned
